BACKGROUND
Daido Metal is a world leader in the supply of plain bearings for automotive, marine, rail traction and industrial engines. It is solely devoted to the development and supply of plain bearings and is the only company able to supply the complete range of plain bearings. It is a global company with facilities in Japan, Europe, USA, Asia, India, China, and Brazil.
Daido Industrial Bearings Europort Limited are based in Ilminster, Somerset, UK produce plain bearings, bushes, and thrust bearings for medium speed diesel engines, turbochargers
and a range of other rotating and reciprocating machines and floating bushes and thrust bearings for automotive turbochargers. This is a continuation of the business that was originally operated by The Glacier Metal Company Limited.
The acquisition of this business by Daido Metal Japan ensures that customers will be serviced with a combination of the widest range of materials, product applications knowledge and the most modern manufacturing processes.
MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY
Daido has a central Research & Development facility focussed on developing materials and processes specifically designed to be at the forefront of the market requirements. New materials in the form of bi-metals, tri-metals and overlays are undergoing continual development for future generations of engines and machines. Daido can produce materials either at the Materials Division of Daido Metal Japan or in the Ilminster factory in the UK.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
In addition to the focussed Research & Development into materials and processes, a sophisticated suite of computer programs is available to calculate the theoretical operating conditions of bearings in reciprocating and rotating machines. Based on these, applications engineers can provide the optimum design solution.
