General Vacuum Equipment Limited (GVE) is a premier supplier of vacuum web coating and metallizing equipment. Founded in 1986 in Manchester, England, it now has a product range unrivalled in the metallizing industry. Since 2004 it has been part of the highly regarded Bobst Group (www.bobstgroup.com).
GVE's product range allows high barrier and decorative coatings in aluminium onto plastic webs to be achieved using the OptiLab and the Opticoat, the K4000 and the K5000 metallizers. These vary from 1250mm web width to 4500mm web width. The OptiLab and the Opticoat are development vacuum coaters that can be used for the production of solar cells and photo voltaic applications. Various holographic coatings, including aluminium, zinc sulphide, chrome, copper and others can be produced using the new Holosec metallizer. Clear barrier coatings of Silicon Oxide (SiOx) can be produced on GVE's PECVD machine. Clear barrier coatings allow packaged food to be kept fresh whilst still allowing the consumer to view the product. Higher added value coatings can be sputtered onto flexible webs using the new Optilab machine.
