Union Tiles (Pty) Ltd has evolved over the last century, from it's origin in 1910 in Johannesburg South Africa as a small cement products and Terrazzo tile producer to a multi faceted wall and floor tile corporation. It's Italian founders brought their terrazzo trade skills and knowledge from Bergamo. These Italian roots are still firmly entrenched in the companies management style and in the origin and development of its cementitious products, which are manufactured at it's production facility in Johannesburg. The company has expanded its operation into three separate companies, each specializing in different floor and wall tiles, and related products. The ceramic division, namely "Union Mosaic and Tiles" retails and wholesales in a wide range of ceramic, porcelain, and terracotta wall and floor tiles as well as bathroom accessories. The natural stone division, namely "Natural Stone Tiles", specializes in all forms of natural materials in tile and slab form, from sandstone, slate, marble, granite, limestone, quartzite amongst others. "Natural Stone Tiles" also specializes in all natural stone polishing, processing equipment and polishing pads and blocks for the marble and granite processing industry. Our products include Terrazzo Tiles, Terrazzo polishing machinery, Marble processing machinery and Granite processing machinery. Finally the founder company "Union Flooring Tiles" is a manufacturer of a range of cementitious tiles, wall coatings, wall plasters, pebbles and coloured stone and a supplier of white and grey cement. Union Tiles has grown successfully year after year, despite a tough economic business climate in the South African Building Industry, over the past 5 years. There are six large distribution outlets, three in the Gauteng Region within the group, with a fourth outlet in the George, fifth in Nelspruit and sixth in Bloemfontein. The company covers outlying regions with it's independent distribution network and undertakes large export contracts to its neighbouring countries on a project-by-project basis, supported by its team of specialist technicians who give on site support and sales service. The holding company Union Tiles employs over ±300 people within its group of companies. A non racial policy is strictly adhered to and the company prides itself on the ongoing development and the upliftment of it's staff members, many of which have at least 10 years of service if not more, and have in certain circumstances progressed from positions such as labourers, to specialist product sales executives and supervisors. The company is always searching for the latest trends and developments in the tile and wall and floor decor industry. It prides itself on the latest tile fashions from Italy and locally produced goods. Newly developed and manufactured products, include, coloured wall plasters, - "Plastex", coloured floor screeds, - "Floatex" /, cementitious paints, -"Duoflex/Unicemtex" and a cementitious modified coating namely POOLTEX. Worldwide trade fairs are frequently visited to ensure we stay abreast of the wall and floor tile industry and trips to quarries around the world to find the best marbles, granites and sandstone are a common activity within the organization.
