Sicherheit für Mensch und Maschine steht im Fokus der Geschäftstätigkeit. Das Unternehmen ist heute als Technologieführer eine der bedeutendsten Marken in der sicheren Automation. Pilz ist mit weltweit 24 Niederlassungen und insgesamt 1.300 Mitarbeitern weltweit tätig.
Produkte und Systeme von Pilz gewährleisten durch die Überwachung von Sicherheitsfunktionen wie "Schutztür" oder "Not-Aus" den Schutz von Mensch, Maschine und Anlage. Sie kommen in allen Bereichen des Maschinen- und Anlagenbaus zum Einsatz, darunter die Automobilindustrie, Lebensmittelindustrie oder Holzindustrie. Darüber hinaus stellen Lösungen von Pilz sicher, dass Gepäckförderanlagen in Flughäfen gefahrlos laufen (z. B. Schiphol), Theaterkulissen sich reibungslos bewegen (z. B. Hofburg, Wien) und Seilbahnen oder Achterbahnen sicher unterwegs sind (z. B. Parsennbahn, Davos).
In der 60-jährigen Firmengeschichte machte Pilz immer wieder durch Innovationen von sich reden und setzte damit Standards. Beispielsweise 1968 mit dem ersten Zweihand-Bedienrelais, 1987 mit dem ersten Not-Aus-Schaltgerät oder 1999 mit dem ersten offenen und sicheren Bussystem. 2002 wurde mit PNOZmulti, ein multifunktionales und frei konfigurierbares Sicherheitsschaltgerät auf den Markt gebracht. Mit dem weltweit ersten sicheren Kamerasystem SafetyEYE zur dreidimensionalen Raumüberwachung war Pilz 2007 für den Hermes Award, den international höchst dotierten Wirtschaftspreis und Technologiepreis, nominiert.

The company.s activity is focused on safety for man and machine. The company is one of the key brands within safe automation. Currently employing more than 1,300 staff in 24 subsidiaries worldwide, Pilz operates internationally as technology leader.Pilz products guarantee protection for man, machine and plant by monitoring safety functions such as "safety gates" or "E-STOPs". They are used in all areas of mechanical engineering, including the automotive, food and woodworking industry. Safe control technology from Pilz also ensures that baggage handling systems run safely at airports (e.g. Schiphol), theatre scenery moves smoothly (e.g. Hofburg, Vienna) and funiculars or roller coasters travel safely (e.g. Parsenn funicular, Davos).
With a company history extending over more than 50 years, innovations from Pilz have always been a talking point and have set standards. For example, in 1968 with the first two-hand control relay, in 1987 with the first emergency stop relay or in 1999 with the first open, safe bus system. The multifunctional safety system PNOZmulti came along in 2002; for the first time users were able to configure the safety functions they required on the PC, rather than implement them through the wiring as before. The realtime Ethernet SafetyNET p and SafetyEYE, the first safe camera system for three-dimensional zone monitoring, are among the latest innovations. As part of the Hannover Fair 2007, SafetyEYE was nominated for the Hermes Award, the richest international economy and technology prize.
